How to Wear All Black in a Heatwave: 5 Rules
Black absorbs heat.
Wear it anyway.
Five rules for staying fully black through a heatwave without melting. The trick is fabric that is mostly air. No linen, no pastels, no apology.
97°F. no casualties.

the haul that started it
taped up for july · the five rules below
Every July it starts. A coworker discovers thermodynamics and shares it with you personally: "you know black absorbs heat, right?"
You know. You have always known. And the beige "summer version" of yourself was never an option. The scene solved this in the 90s with open-weave mesh, and the physics are almost stupid: mesh is mostly air. You stay covered, you stay black, you stop suffering.
And be honest about the stakes. The couple on this board did not meet by compromising in July. The look is the whole point, so keep the look.
It only works if you wear it right. Five rules, learned the sweaty way.
the one your feed already knows
Stop fighting the sun with solid jersey
The mistake was never the color, it is the weave. A solid black tee is a heat trap because the air has nowhere to go. Swap density for structure: pieces that alternate solid panels with open mesh vent exactly where you sweat, chest and back, and still read black from across the street.
Where it applies: the Amused to Death tee, the best seller of this whole mesh line, and it earned it. Solid where you want coverage, diagonal mesh stripes where you vent, 95% cotton with stretch. Skin shows in slices, never the whole picture. Not ready for skin at all? Wear it over a plain black tank: you keep the airflow in the mesh zones, show nothing, and it still reads solid black from six feet.

the layering weapon
Build the outfit in layers you can shed
A heatwave day swings twenty degrees between noon and midnight. The answer is layers that weigh nothing: sheer pieces you stack when the sun drops and strip back without losing the look. If a layer weighs more than a rumor, it stays home.
Where it applies: the Caution tank. Fishnet has been doing this job since Batcave nights had no air conditioning. Over a band tee, the tee stops being basic. Alone after dark, it is the whole fit for the goth night. Under a harness, it goes full deathrock with zero added heat.
On its own it is fully fishnet, front and back. If that is more than your Tuesday needs, layer it. That is literally its job.

The tee that vents and the layer that weighs nothing, boxed as one order. Pick a size for each piece: tee S to 3XL, tank S to 4XL. Both run true to size, and the tank is cut to layer either way.

long sleeves, zero regret
Cover more skin, not less
Counterintuitive, but people who live in actual deserts have dressed like this forever: covered skin in a fabric that breathes stays cooler than bare skin in direct sun. You also skip the burn and the t-shirt tan line, on principle.
Where it applies: the Chemical X top, a fine-weave long sleeve that is mostly air. It is also the best under-layer on this page: shirts, vests and straps sit right on top of it. Already got the pack? This is the piece you add to turn two tops into a full week of outfits.

Solve the bottom half first
Everyone obsesses over tops, then spends August in thick black denim jeans. Fix the bottom first, and remember that distressing is functional: every rip, grommet and open weave is a vent the designer already cut for you.
Where it applies: the Summer Decadence shorts, acid-washed twill shredded within an inch of its life, studs, zips and faux leather patches included. The most hardware you can wear per degree of heat. Wears with the rule 1 tee.

maximum airflow, zero compromise
Maximum airflow is not a metaphor
When it is genuinely too hot for trousers, there is an answer older than the genre itself. A kilt moves more air than any shorts ever will, reads as the most committed piece on this page, and pairs with every boot you own.
Where it applies: the Desolation kilt, structured twill with faux leather straps, an integrated belt bag and a washed one-of-one dye pattern, no two are identical. The only piece on this page that clears free worldwide shipping by itself.

No fishnet, all function: the tee that vents plus the shorts that breathe, a size for each piece, one checkout. It clears the free shipping bar on its own, so the whole order ships free, worldwide.
This is not a "summer capsule"
It is the same wardrobe, engineered for heat. We have been making dark clothing since 2012, and every July the same pieces walk out the door: the ones that let people stay exactly who they are when the weather tells them not to. If you have ever been told to "just wear color", you already know why this page exists.

Before you ask
Will it fit? Every product page has a full size chart with real garment measurements, in inches and cm, for that exact piece. Numbers, not adjectives. Between sizes: size up for a relaxed drape, stay true to size for the fitted look. Wrong call anyway? The return label is on us.
Is it see-through? That is the point, but on your terms. The tee shows skin in stripes only, the tank is made to layer, and the bottoms are fully opaque. How much skin shows is a layering decision, not a dare.
How do I wash it? Mesh goes in the machine, cold and gentle, and dries in about an hour, which is rather the point. Check the label on the bottoms.
When does it ship? Every order ships with tracking. Shipping is calculated at checkout, and orders over $129 ship free worldwide.
What if it is not for me? You have 14 days from the day your order arrives, not the day you order. Email us, we send you a return shipping label and sort exchanges fast.
